Whee! Autumn is already tickling the snowy toes of winter, and soon it will be Christmas. We’ve had so many exciting things happening here in the magical world of Pomenia towards the end of the year that we need to take a moment to catch our breath. In… phew. And out… whoosh. Like that.
Now to the point! A lot is happening, and indeed, a lot should happen. Right now, the little eyes here are filled with Pomenia’s trolls and dragons with their offspring, as last weekend we celebrated children’s literature and culture at the Helsinki Book Fair. Pomenia participated in the Helsinki Book Fair together with its publisher, Kumma. These fairs were Pomenia’s first live book fair event, and oh, what fun it was there!
We painted fairy creatures into the hands of both children and adults, chatted together about the world of Pomenia, and immersed ourselves in the world of fairy tales with all our senses. The book fair was full of warm encounters among children, parents, and everyone else who enjoys the world of fairy tales. Thank you for coming to say hello to us. It was wonderful to meet face to face – amidst the hustle and bustle of the fair, the feeling that we are all here together, creating, experiencing, and enjoying the world of fairy tales, was strengthened.

New Pomenia books and stunning courage-themed courage cards
Once upon a time, always and forever. And all good had to happen. Something like that begins the fantastic book trilogy about the magical world of Pomenia, whose final part, “The Hidden Secret of the Enchanted World,” has now been released. Hooray and a big wow! The captivating conclusion of the Pomenia trilogy reveals the secrets lurking beneath the surface of the magical world. The book reveals what ultimately happens to Pomenia. Imaginative and colorful illustrations, along with an excitingly suspenseful story, invite the reader into an unprecedented adventure. Do you dare to join too?
The Pomenia book trilogy is an unprecedentedly dense fairy tale entity in Finnish children’s literature. Over 750 pages of fairy tale adventure, lots of funny fairy-tale characters, and a loooot of magic dust! Creating the book trilogy was a huge undertaking, it meant over two years of writing, illustrating, and imaginative work from many people. Above all, from the fairy tale artist Petronella Grahn, who drew over three hundred art images for the book trilogy! Three hundred!! But the work was worth it all. This is exactly what we wanted! Because here in Pomenia, we want everyone, from creatures smaller than a mouse to those smaller than an elephant, to find courage within themselves and dare to be who they are. Finding courage requires good children’s culture, a sprinkle of magic – in other words, a lot of stories that lead to the magical world. When standing on the edge of a cliff, contemplating learning to fly and taking off like a dragon, many fear falling. But what if you actually take flight? You can’t know until you try. We jumped, we tried, and the magic dust just swirled when we realized that we had truly succeeded. The great Pomenia book trilogy is now complete and ready. This fall, the long-awaited and eagerly anticipated Sisu courage cards will also be released. Pomenia’s courage card deck includes 32 cards, and each card features a short fairy tale from the magical world of Pomenia along with a related activity or reflection. The exercises help you discover new and various forms of courage within yourself and others. Hooray! With a little encouragement and practice, you can dare to do so many things. You’ll surely be surprised! And don’t worry, you definitely have the courage. The Sisu courage cards are a follow-up to the Sisu Swift the Hero picture book, which was released earlier this year.
